RECEIVER
  RECEIVER

Boiler panels for steam generation and superheating are arranged in a circle around the top section of the Power Tower. One receiver is located atop each Power Tower.

The LUZ II receiver is a radiant forced circulation, drum type steam boiler. The solar boiler application is unique in its response to the daily and seasonal variations in solar flux distribution. However, the boiler is designed and built according to proven steam boiler design criteria using standard materials and components. Panel radiation heat flux is kept within levels standard in the boiler industry. The boiler's source of radiation is the sun reflected onto the receiver by fields of heliostats. The boiler can superheat steam at a pressure of 140 -160 bar and a temperature of 545 degrees Celsius. One DPT 550 cluster is equivalent to one standard boiler.
